Good Morning y'all! I am sitting here at work trying to recover from a weekend of long rides. What a great weekend! On Saturday I went riding with my "besties," Nic and Den. We dubbed this one the "ice cream" ride because we started and finished near an ice cream shop so we could treat ourselves at the end. The ride is one I have done a lot this year but we started from Palmer Lake rather than Castle Rock, thus saving us some driving time. I love starting from Palmer Lake! I had a lot more time to warm up before we hit the nasty hills so no Darth Vader breathing!!! I did great on this ride. I clocked just ride time and I did the loop in about 3 hours and 15 mins with an average speed of 15.7 miles per hour. YES!!!!
Here are some pictures from Saturday along with the ride profile.

Sunday I rode with
Susan. Susan is a parathlete (hand-cyclist) that qualified for Kona at Buffalo Springs a couple of weeks ago. My job on Sunday was to help her get through the first loop of her 100 mile ride so that her friend could take over at the second loop. The ride for me was a nice recovery ride on a great day with great company. Keep your eyes open at Kona because Susan is going places. I can feel it! Her attitude with training has been great and she has been making some great strides. I know she is going places! I love her! Anyway, I wish I had pictures but alas I do not but I do have the road profile for y'all!

I am loving my bike ride now. Sadie and I are really dialed in and we are doing some great rides. Next weekend I am riding the Bike for the Cure in Southeast Colorado. This will be a 72 mile ride over the areas that I rode on Sunday. I have that area pretty much memorized now so it will be a great training ride. And if you feel inclined. Please help me support
breast cancer research. I am doing this ride in honor of my new friend
Moni Monk, a breast cancer survivor! She is an awesome fighter with a great attitude! I am so happy that God brought her into my life.
One more thought and I will wrap this post up. This thought came to me this morning. As you may or may not know, I have decided not to race the triathlons I signed up for this year. Yes, you may think I am doing the wrong thing but that is okay. I know that I am not were I need to be mentally and it was causing me a lot of distress. I have decided to enjoy the summer and try and get my love of the game back. However, I did decide that I might do a 1/2 Ironman on my own and over a weekend. I am thinking that I will do the swim on Friday, the bike on Saturday and the run on Sunday. I really like the idea of this so I will give you more details about it as they begin to coalesce. Right now I am just in my planning stages. What do y'all think of that idea?
